How Our PAT Testing Works

1. Booking & Setup

We confirm how many items you need testing, arrange access, and agree a date that works for you - including early or late hours if needed.

2. Visual Inspection

We check each appliance for damaged plugs, loose wires, burn marks or other visible faults.

3. Electrical Testing

Using calibrated PAT testing equipment, we verify the internal safety of leads, cables and sockets.

4. Labelling

Every item is clearly labelled with a pass or fail sticker and the test date.

5. Certification

You'll receive a same-day digital report, including test results, asset list and a certificate of compliance.

6. Minor On-Site Repairs

If we find faults, we can fix basic issues like plug rewiring or fuse replacements during the visit.

PAT Testing: FAQs

Q. Is PAT testing a legal requirement?

Not directly. But under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, all employers must keep electrical equipment safe. Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is a recognised way to show you’ve done this.

It depends on the type of equipment and how it’s used. Here are common examples:

  • Construction sites: every 3 to 6 months
  • Offices: every 12 to 24 months
  • Hotels and care homes: at least annually

Your risk assessment should always guide testing frequency.

Any equipment with a plug that’s used at work. This includes:

  • Kettles and microwaves
  • Monitors, PCs and printers
  • Extension leads and chargers
  • Fans, heaters and lamps

Items that run purely on batteries usually don’t need testing. But if they have plug-in chargers or docking stations, those parts should be tested.

No. We test with minimal disruption and can work outside normal office hours if needed.

We can usually test several hundred items, depending on how easy they are to access.
